Tomato Varieties

All species of tomatoes, come in 2 types: determinate smaller bush types and indeterminate larger and needing support to grow. When adding any type of tomato plant to your garden, be prepared to use a trellis or stake of some kind for the plant to climb. Sizes for the fruits can vary, with some beefsteak types getting as large as one-pound and many grape tomatoes being no larger than an ounce. Any tomato species you add to your garden will yield a large amount of fruit when grown in spring or summer with plenty of water. Additionally, all plants need to be spaced 24 to 36 inches apart.
