Also known as German thyme, English Tthyme is one of the more common varieties of this herb. As a perennial, it grows best in zones 5 through 9 with a spring planting and full sun. The soil, additionally, needs to be well-drained but somewhat dry. All plants grow to be 12 to 15 inches tall and can be added to a garden or containers. For the former, 12 inches of space should be added between transplants.
