Stonehead aptly describes this type of cabbage, as its head is harder and more solid than other species. With a three to four pound head, stonehead cabbage takes 50 to 70 days to mature and won’t split while in your garden. Each cabbage plant should be added 24 inches apart in rows 30 inches apart and should receive about six to eight hours of full sun per day in cooler spring and fall weather. The plant also needs to be fertilized twice before heads appear and should be well-watered. Once ready, heads should weigh between two and four pounds.
Harvest: 50-70 days. Exposure: Full sun. Water Needs: Keep well watered. Fertilizer: Fertilize 2x before heads appear.
