San Marzano tomatoes are the fruits used usually in canning, pastes, and purees. With a pear-shape, these tomatoes usually run about 3.5 inches long and a thicker, meaty texture than most varieties. These plants take about 80 days to mature and are indeterminate, so a stake or trellis will need to be added to your garden for the vines to climb.
When growing these tomatoes, some of our suggestions are:
Harvest: 80 days. Exposure: Full sun. Water Needs: Keep evenly moist. Fertilizer: Fertilize when planting and when plants begin to bloom.
