This Genovese variety of basil is ideal for pesto. Large leaf Italian basil needs the same type of conditions as most types, including full sun and moist but well-drained soil, to grow but each plant grows 18 to 24 inches tall and yields three-inch long leaves. Harvests typically occur from early to late summer.
